Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. She started her Broadway career with musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. It was also the time that a Tony Award was given to her for the character of Essie Carmichael. She was in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford grew up in a world of her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across stage both on and off screen. She is continuing to work on award-winning projects with many new projects in the pipeline. Ashford will be next playing opposite Kumail Nanjiani in Hulu exclusive production Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is undoubtedly a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford is set to return in 2023 and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephen Sondheim Sweeney Todd. The show will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who brought you Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the nation's crisis, which swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment proceeding in nearly a century. She starred in two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. She was also a guest on the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, in which she starred alongside legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford is the recipient of the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Other Broadway appearances comprise Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford is now dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York.
